The most common requirements to rent a van without a driver are:
Residence in Spain and mandatory documentation
At Rodando, we only rent vans to people with residence in Spain, which means you must have valid Spanish documentation. Vehicles are not rented to people without residence in Spain.
On the day of pickup, you must present one of the following documents, always valid: Spanish DNI or NIE. A passport is not accepted as valid documentation for the rental. Without this documentation, the van cannot be handed over, even if you have a confirmed reservation.
Type B driving license with minimum seniority
It is mandatory to have a valid type B driving license in Spain with at least 2 years of seniority. This requirement is essential for any van rental with Rodando.
Minimum age and age conditions of the driver
To rent a van, you must have reached a minimum age of 23 years.
Drivers under 23 years old or with less than two years of license may be subject to surcharges or additional conditions. You must always check this at our offices before booking.
Drivers over 69 years old: for safety reasons, at Rodando we may deny delivery only when there are objective and duly justified circumstances. It is not an automatic limitation.
Additional drivers included in the contract
Another person can drive the van, as long as they are listed in the contract.
At Rodando we allow up to 3 additional drivers, who must meet all the requirements indicated above (residence in Spain, valid documentation, type B license with 2 years of seniority, and minimum age of 23 years).
- Including additional drivers involves a surcharge.
- No one not listed in the contract may drive the vehicle.
Payment method, deposit and rental excess
To formalize the rental you need:
- A credit card issued by a Spanish bank, whose holder is the same person listed in the contract. Foreign bank cards, debit cards, or third-party cards are not accepted.
- A hold of €400 will be made on the credit card as a deposit. This is released once you return the van in good condition and according to the contract.
- The rental includes an excess of €1,000, which is the maximum amount you would be liable for in case of damage. You can reduce the €1,000 excess to €400 by paying €35 per day along with the rental. This option does not cover damages due to negligence, but does cover damages caused by force majeure or third parties.
Delays in pickup and early returns
In case of delay:
- Up to 1 hour: no charge
- Between 1 and 2 hours: one additional rental day
- More than 2 hours: one additional day + €50 penalty
Unjustified and prolonged delays may be considered misappropriation, with the corresponding legal consequences.
Early return does not generate a refund, even if you return the van before the contracted date.
After-hours return and mandatory video
If you return the van outside business hours:
- You must notify in advance
- You will be provided with an access code
- You will leave the vehicle inside the warehouse
- Keys and documentation are deposited in the internal mailbox
In addition, it is mandatory to record a complete video of the vehicle, showing its exterior and interior condition. This video protects you against any subsequent incidents.

Additionally, at Rodando we offer 1 hour of courtesy, but it is not applied automatically nor does it replace the maximum return time. Exceeding it may generate charges.
